In 1978 Kurt was living in a house with sash windows and screens outside the windows. Kurt imagined a way to eliminate the screens to enhance the view. He took apart a window blind that normally was mounted above windows and he replaced the blind material with window screen material. He mounted the window screen on the roller at the base of one of the sash windows and attached the screen to the bottom of the lower sash window frame. When the sash window was raised it pulled the screen up to cover the opening as the window went up. When the window was closed the screen was hidden in a metal cover. Kurt found out that the first invisible screen was invented and patented in 1864. He built a few but did not pursue the market.
